Lorraine's Story

Lorraine is a CORU registered Chartered Physiotherapist/Athletic Therapist. Lorraine graduated from Dublin City University in 2011 with a BSc. Athletic Therapy and Training, specialising in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and sporting injuries. After 7 years working in the sport and health & fitness industry, Lorraine proceeded to graduate from the University of Brighton in 2020 with a MSc in Physiotherapy (Pre-registration). During her 2-year master’s course she worked in many different hospital settings including Trauma Orthopaedics, Acute Stroke unit, out-patient Musculoskeletal and Palliative care. These experiences instilled a strong holistic approach throughout her practice as a physiotherapist which she continues to carry through her profession today.

 

Lorraine’s vast experience to date includes working with multiple sports teams, including Dublin Camogie GAA, Coolmine RFC, Al Ain GAA (UAE) and various GAA club teams across Co. Dublin, practicing pitch-side care as well as treatment and rehabilitation to numerous athletes. She has worked in private practice dealing with acute and chronic injuries and conditions among a varied population of all ages. She worked as a fitness instructor both at the National Sports Campus in Dublin 15 and the Brighton University Gym in the UK teaching a wide variety of classes such as spinning, strength and conditioning and mobility practices. She also worked as a Cardiac Rehabilitation exercise instructor both in Dublin and the UK.

 

Lorraine specialises in acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions including all joint and muscle injuries. She provides a thorough assessment, diagnosis, individualised treatment plan and a patient-centred approach to rehabilitation that fits in with life’s busy schedules. Lorraine’s therapy modalities include Dry Needling treatment, Cupping treatment, joint and soft tissue mobilisations among other techniques.

 

Lorraine is passionate about helping and guiding people to optimal physical health which is expressed through a friendly and motivating manner. She has a keen interest in neck and shoulder injuries, back-pain, and hamstring injuries as they can be complex and frustrating for people and so enjoys rehabilitating them to a pain-free state.

 

Lorraine enjoys hiking, cycling, strength and conditioning and hot yoga. She has a keen interest in GAA having played with her home club Mohill Ladies in Leitrim and Al Ain GAA while living abroad in Abu Dhabi. She also enjoys working on the side-line with sporting teams.
